S4G (Senior Sunday School Small Groups)

Sunday mornings, congregating in the sanctuary. The sermon ends, and then the youths would head off for SSS, or S4G. Ever wondered what youths do then? That short 90 minutes or so, what exactly are they doing? Well, we’ve got some information here just for you!

Youths aged 13 to 16 would be involved in Senior Sunday School, in short, SSS. In SSS, the curriculum is more structured, with teacher’s guides and worksheets for students, provided by the scripture prayers syllabus. Youths from secondary 1 to 3 (13 to 15 years of age) are grounded in the basis of Bible study, so that for the next six years when they enter the S4G, they will be able to do their own Bible Study based on the word of God. The SSS classes are led by teachers or mentors, because it is very important for the youths to be built up correctly, and the teachers/mentors are there to lend a helping hand, and to guide or correct the students’ behaviour.

Then you must have heard of S4G. What is it, exactly? In S4G, youths aged 17 onwards do bible study, in groups of 9 to 12, so as to facilitate discussion for all to have the chance to share. The S4G groups are led by youths of their own age. The age groups is set at 17 years and above because they are more mature and able to share their thoughts, applying what they learn to their daily life. The duration of the bible study is approximately an hour, during which bible study books are used to guide the youths in the study of a particular book in the Bible. The S4G emphasizes on application, the way of living with respect to the bible passage. This discussion allows the group members to share their thoughts and questions about the bible passage.

It’s obvious that our Sunday school education is in the very good hands of teachers and group leaders who all work towards the common goal of learning more about our awesome God.
